Experiencing the sun going down out there all alone in the semi-desert of Bardenas Reales felt like being on another planet. Watching the light turning those unique patterns into a game of light and shadows was magical. For me such a natural spectacle is better than every movie.

The Matterhorn of Namiba.

Sometimes referred to as the Matterhorn of Namibia for its similar shape, Spitzkoppe makes for a great camping spot and offers stunning views, especially at sunset.

Freezing autumn hikes ❄️

When we started our hike today, the peak we aimed for was covered in big clouds. Even when we arrived at this gorgeous chapel on top of the mountain we couldn't see anything. But suddenly wind came up and blew away the clouds and we were rewarded for our patience with beautiful views onto some of the highest mountain ranges of tyrol's alps.

By the way, funny to notice that only the side towards the sun tried up and the other, as you can see in the picture, was still covered in frost and ice.

Spain is so rich in old beautiful towns all over the country. Many of them are experiencing rural exodus so that the government tries to revive them by paying people to buy houses and live there. The village in this photo is called Aínsa, a gorgeous little mountain town nestled in between the foothills of the pyrenees. I can think of worse things than getting paid to live here.

Magical alpine glow in South Tyrol.

This day we did a beautiful hike starting from Geisler Alm all over to Seceda and back. After taking in the impressive views of Seceda just before sunset, we found out that our intended trail back was closed and we had to hike back the same way we came which was much longer. However we were rewarded with this beautiful sunset setting the dolomites on fire and were taught to always stay positive and appreciate the little things.

Enjoying the sunny side of life up in the mountains.

Like in this shot, often light and shadow lie so close to each other and are only separated by a narrow ridge. When in the mountains, I mostly manage to jump onto the sunny side, while recognizing that the dark side in the end usually is not that dark at all.
